FLOOD STATEMENT

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White
  River...


.Widespread lowland flooding continues along area rivers in central
and southern Indiana. Significant flooding is possible at a
few locations. Flood crests have been ranging from bankfull at some
locations to nearly 7 feet above flood stage in the Montezuma area
along the Wabash River in western Indiana.

The crest on the Wabash as of late Monday evening will be reaching
the Terre Haute area overnight. Vincennes and Mount Carmel will
see the crest arrive during the afternoon and overnight hours on the
27th.

The crest on the White River is in the Edwardsport area and will
reach the Petersburg and Hazleton areas on the 25th.

The crest on the East Fork White River is slightly upstream
from the Rivervale/Bedford area, and is expected to reach the
Williams area Wednesday morning...cresting near flood stage.

Flooding will affect local and some state roads, extensive
bottomlands, river parks and possibly a few residential areas.
Flooding will persist much of the week in central Indiana and into
the final days of January and possibly the first couple days of
February in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois.

Widespread rains of 1 to nearly 2 inches fell in central and
southern Indiana this past Thursday night. Melted precipitation
since January 10 totals from 2 to slightly more than 4 inches.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

* At 10:45 PM Monday the stage was 14.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  late this morning.
* At 14.0 feet...Pasture lands...agricultural lands and several County
  and State Roads begin to flood.  High water isolates a few river
  cabins.  State Road 235 east of Medora and county roads near
  Shields and Vallonia flood.  Roads that begin to flood include 258
  east of Cortland...County Road 725 N just north of the gaging site
  and Ewing Road near Brownstown.

* UNTIL FRIDAY EVENING.
* At 11:30 PM Monday the stage was 22.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 23.1 feet by this
  evening. The river will fall below flood stage Friday morning.
* At 22.0 feet...A few local county roads begin to flood and are
  impassable.  These include Buddha Road south of the gage and
  Lawrenceport Road.  All local roads across the East Fork of the
  White River are threatened by high water, and some are closed.
  Flooding of agricultural lands in Lawrence County is in progress.

* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage after
  midnight tomorrow.
* At 20.0 feet...Water is over most local roads in the flood plain.
  Be safe...Turn Around and Do Not Drown.  Agricultural lands flood.
  Water covers Bedford Boat Club grounds.   Access to higher
  campground spots at the Bedford Boat Club are blocked by high
  water.

* At 7:05 AM Monday the stage was 6.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by after midnight tomorrow and
  continue to rise to near 8.1 feet by tomorrow early afternoon.  The
  river will fall below flood stage by early Thursday morning.
* At 8.0 feet...Flood stage at Williams.  Bottomlands are beginning to
  flood.  Stumphole road...South Chase Riffle Road and possibly other
  rural county roads in Western Lawrence County flood.

* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Friday morning.
* At 20.0 feet...Water is at Critical levels for makeshift levees.
  Most of bottomlands flood.  Old Vincennes road and State Road 358
  between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on
  average about once a year.

* UNTIL MONDAY MORNING.
* At 11:30 PM Monday the stage was 20.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 20.8 feet by
  Thursday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
  evening.
* At 20.9 feet...During June 2010 State Road 257 south of Washington
  began to flood at this crest level at Petersburg after Shoals
  crested at 18.19 feet.  About a week later Petersburg crested at
  21.34 feet...about one half foot higher...but the water did not
  reach State Road 257 after Shoals crested at 15.59 feet...about 2.5
  feet lower.  Lost River did not contribute much water during this
  June flood and locally it was not extremely wet.

  bottomlands and some of the higher bottomlands is in progress.
  High water surrounds Residents in river cabins.  Oil fields and
  local roads flood.

  Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
  evening.
* At 18.0 feet...Agricultural lands and some oil fields flood.
  Several township roads about 1.25 miles south of St. Francesville
  and River Road between Billett Road and Lincoln Memorial Bridge in
  Lawrence County are flooded.  Extensive flooding of Kimmell Park at
  Vincennes.

  restaurant along the river also closes.  Several local river roads
  flood.
