Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia...retransmitted...
National Weather Service Columbia SC
309 PM EDT Wed Aug 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...A cold front currently over the southern Appalachian
Mountains will push into the region tonight through Thursday morning
before exiting to the south late in the day. Isolated to widely
scattered lightning is expected, but only marginal instability will
limit coverage. Some gusty winds are possible through this evening.
With good atmospheric moisture in place, average rainfall could range
from a quarter to half an inch, with locally higher amounts possible.

Poor to fair dispersion is expected this evening through early tonight
with a general improvement late as the front crosses the area.
Cloudiness and some low-level mixing will inhibit any fog development.

Surface winds Thursday will be from the north-northeast around 5 mph
around daybreak, then increase to 5 to 10 mph during the morning.
Transport winds will be north-northwest at 5 to 10 mph for much of
the day. Relative humidities will drop into the 50 to 55 percent
range in the afternoon.
