Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
436 AM CDT Fri Jun 23 2017

.DISCUSSION...

Generally cloudy skies, with widespread showers and isolated
thunderstorms are forecast today, as the remnants of Tropical
Depression Cindy moves from northern Arkansas this morning, to
southern Kentucky during the evening. Some of the thunderstorms
into the evening could become strong to severe in intensity,
with damaging wind gusts and brief tornado formation the main
threats. A severe weather threat will diminish this evening as
the weakening system moves further away from Northern Alabama.

In addition, another 1 to 1.5 inches with locally higher amounts
of rain is expected over the region today and tonight. This rain
falling on already wet to near saturated soils could result in
runoff or flooding instances. A strong wind field associated with
Cindy should result in Good to Very Good dispersion rates today.
Lighter winds from the surface to the transport level will
produce Fair dispersion rates during Saturday.

Rain chances will diminish from north to south during Saturday,
as a cold front moves across the region from the northwest to
southeast. Drier and cooler air filtering in from the northwest
will bring dry weather to the region from Sunday through the
middle of next week. As the high moves east of the region after
mid week, a return southerly flow, moisture from the Gulf and
resulting instability could bring isolated showers and
thunderstorms to the area next Thursday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Given the abundance of
deep tropical moisture associated with Tropical Depression Cindy,
clouds affecting the higher terrain will be possible today through
Saturday. Fog formation is possible Saturday morning within and
near sheltered locations, especially if winds weaken.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
