FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR EASTERN WASHINGTON AND NORTH
IDAHO...UPDATED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA
817 AM PDT FRI AUG 28 2015

HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING
RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM PDT SATURDAY

.DISCUSSION...

...LOCALLY BREEZY AFTERNOON WINDS TODAY...

...VERY STRONG WINDS SATURDAY...

LOCALLY BREEZY WINDS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION TODAY BUT
LOOK FOR A SUBTLE INCREASE IN HUMIDITY AND COOLING TREND WITH
CLOUDS INCREASING THROUGH THE DAY. A VERY POTENT COLD FRONT WILL
PUSH INTO THE REGION EARLY SATURDAY MORNING BRINGING A SHARP SHIFT
IN WINDS AND LIKELIHOOD FOR HIGH WIND GUSTS. WINDS WILL REMAIN
STRONG UNTIL EARLY EVENING. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR LARGE IMPACTS
GIVEN THE INTENSE WINDS FORECAST IN THE MODELS. WETTING RAINS WILL
ACCOMPANY THE SYSTEM ALONG THE CASCADE CREST. BUT ONLY LIGHT
SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED OVER THE REST OF THE MOUNTAINS WITH UP TO A
TENTH OF AN INCH. THE BASIN WILL RECEIVE LITTLE TO NO
PRECIPITATION AND BLOWING DUST IS EXPECTED. A SECOND FRONT RENEWS
PRECIPITATION CHANCES REGION-WIDE SUNDAY. COOLER AND UNSETTLED
WEATHER PATTERN REMAINS INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH MOUNTAIN SHOWERS
UNTIL THE NEXT COLD FRONT PASSAGE ON TUESDAY.
