FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
800 AM PDT TUE SEP 2 2014

...WARM WITH VERY LOW HUMIDITY FOR THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...ANOTHER COOL FRONT PASS ACROSS THE REGION
LATER TODAY...WITH SPOTTY RAIN OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON AND FAR NW
OREGON. THEN CHANGES...AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS OFFSHORE WHILE
THERMAL LOW PRESSURE BUILDS UP THE COAST. RESULT WILL BE VERY DRY
AND WARM CONDITIONS FOR LATER THIS WEEK...ALONG WITH LIGHT TO
MODERATE EAST TO NORTHEASTERLY WINDS.

.DISCUSSION...NO MAJOR CHANGES FOR TODAY...AS SOMEWHAT COOLER
ONSHORE FLOW CONTINUES. FRONT NOW SITS OFFSHORE...BUT WILL PUSH
INCREASING CLOUDS ACROSS THE REGION TODAY. FRONT SHOULD BE STRONG
ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SOME SPOTTY RAIN ACROSS THE N ZONES...BUT MAIN
EFFECT WILL BE THE INCREASED ONSHORE FLOW. EXPECT BREEZY WEST WINDS
OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN AND THROUGH THE COLUMBIA GORGE LATER TODAY
AND THIS EVENING.

THEN CHANGES WILL ARRIVE. STRONG THERMAL LOW PRESSURE WILL BUILD
ALONG THE OREGON COAST LATER WED AND THU...AND UP THE WASHINGTON
COAST LATE THU AND FRI. THIS WILL BRING VERY DRY AIR ACROSS WESTERN
WASHINGTON AND OREGON. WITH LIGHT TO MODERATE EAST TO NORTHEAST
WINDS...THE CASCADES MID SLOPES AND RIDGE AS WELL AS THOSE IN THE
OREGON COAST RANGE COULD REACH CRITICALLY DRY UNSTABLE CONDITIONS
THU AFTERNOON AND CONTINUING THROUGH FRI NIGHT. WHILE WINDS WILL
NOT BE THE SIGNIFICANT IMPACT...HAINES OF 5 TO POSSIBLY 6 WILL BE.
AT MOMENT NO FIRE WEATHER WATCH...BUT LIKELY WILL ISSUE ONE TODAY.

FCSTR...ROCKEY.
