FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST VIRGINIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV
1241 PM EST WED MAR 4 2015

.DISCUSSION...
COLD AIR FILTERS IN TODAY...AS A COLD FRONT SLIPS JUST SOUTHEAST OF
THE AREA. RAIN...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE AT FIRST AND THEN
TRANSITION TO SLEET AND SNOW THIS EVENING. SNOW COULD BE HEAVY AT
TIMES.

THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THURSDAY...LEAVING NORTHEAST
KENTUCKY...SOUTHEAST OHIO...AND CENTRAL AND NORTHERN WEST VIRGINIA
WITH 5 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW. DUE TO A LATER CHANGE OVER TO
SNOW...SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA AND SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA WILL ONLY SEE 2
TO 4 INCHES.

ARCTIC AIR WILL MOVE IN BEHIND THE SYSTEM AND THEN HIGH PRESSURE WILL
BUILD IN THURSDAY NIGHT. THIS WILL ALLOW FOR SINGLE DIGIT
TEMPERATURES FOR MUCH OF THE REGION FRIDAY MORNING...WITH SOME LOCATIONS
SEEING READINGS BELOW ZERO.

A WARMING TREND CAN BE EXPECTED FOR THE WEEKEND.
