SUMMARY OF FWF DISCUSSIONS

Discussion from LAXFWFSGX

HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL CONTINUE THE HOT WEATHER THROUGH TUESDAY
WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH POSSIBLE DRY LIGHTNING STRIKES OVER
THE MOUNTAINS...FOOTHILLS AND PARTS OF THE INLAND EMPIRE...MAINLY IN
THE AFTERNOONS. MOISTURE FROM HURRICANE ODILE WILL INCREASE FROM THE
SOUTHEAST AND BRING A BETTER CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS WEDNESDAY INTO
THURSDAY WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY. THERE WILL
ALSO BE COOLER BUT HUMID WEATHER. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS FRIDAY OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS...THEN PARTLY
CLOUDY WEATHER WITH SEASONAL TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR OVER THE
WEEKEND AS AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVES IN FROM THE PACIFIC.

Discussion from LAXFWFLOX

WEAK OFFSHORE FLOW EACH MORNING WILL GIVE WAY TO WEAK
ONSHORE FLOW EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY. THIS COMBINED WITH AN
UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN A PROLONGED HEAT
WAVE THROUGH TUESDAY...WITH MOST LOCATIONS AWAY FROM THE COAST
RANGING BETWEEN 100 AND 110 DEGREES. MINIMUM HUMIDITIES WILL
GENERALLY RANGE FROM 15 TO 25 PERCENT. THESE CONDITIONS WILL
CONTINUE TO BRING ELEVATED FIRE DANGER ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
THROUGH TUESDAY...ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE VERY DRY FUELS.
MOUNTAIN AREAS WILL BE ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE TO LARGE PLUME
DOMINATED FIRES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS...PROMPTING THE RED FLAG
WARNINGS. IN ADDITION...SUNDOWNER WINDS WILL CONTINUE EACH NIGHT
THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK...WITH LOCAL GUSTS IN THE 20 TO 30
MPH RANGE.

WHILE THERE WILL BE AN OUTSIDE CHANCE OF A SHOWER OF THUNDERSTORM
OVER THE LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS...CHANCES WILL
INCREASE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY EVEN INTO COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS
AS MOISTURE FROM HURRICANE ODILE MOVES INTO THE REGION. THIS WILL
ALSO HELP TEMPERATURES TO COOL SIGNIFICANTLY EACH DAY WEDNESDAY
THROUGH FRIDAY.

Discussion from SFOFWFHNX

A SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ALOFT WILL RESIDE OVER THE
DISTRICT THROUGH WEDNESDAY BETWEEN AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OFF THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST AND A HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE CENTERED OVER
THE FOUR CORNERS REGION. DRY WEATHER WILL PREVAIL THROUGH AT LEAST
WEDNESDAY MORNING. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE
MOUNTAINS AND DESERT FROM LATE WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY AS THE
UPPER LEVEL TROUGH NEARS THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA COAST.
TEMPERATURES WILL AVERAGE ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH WEDNESDAY WITH GENERALLY
LIGHT AND TERRAIN DRIVEN WINDS. HUMIDITIES WILL GRADUALLY TREND UPWARD
THROUGH THE PERIOD.

Discussion from RNOFWFVEF

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY MAINLY OVER
THE HIGHER TERRAIN IN MOHAVE COUNTY. CLOUDS WILL INCREASE TUESDAY
WITH A GREATER CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS MOHAVE AND SAN
BERNARDINO COUNTIES AS MONSOON MOISTURE SURGES NORTHWARD UNDER THE
INFLUENCE OF HURRICANE ODILE. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME
MORE WIDESPREAD WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY WITH HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH
FLOODING A CONCERN OVER MOHAVE...CLARK AND EASTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES.

Discussion from PHXFWFPSR

EXCEPTIONAL AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE WILL INCREASE OVER THE DISTRICT
THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENTUALLY LEADING TO A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN
SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE. SOME LOCATIONS MAY EXPERIENCE HEAVY
RAINFALL AND LOCALIZED FLOODING. BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...MINIMUM
HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL ONLY FALL INTO A 30-45 PERCENT RANGE WITH
EXCELLENT OVERNIGHT RECOVERY. WINDS NEAR THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE BRIEFLY
GUSTY...BUT OTHERWISE FAVOR AN EASTERLY DIRECTION UP TO 15 MPH.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY GUSTY WINDS...

NOTE...ADDITIONAL FIRE WEATHER FORECAST INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND
IN THE AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION. SEE PRODUCT PHXAFDPSR.
