SUMMARY OF FWF DISCUSSIONS

Discussion from LAXFWFSGX

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DRAPED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST
WILL BRING WIDESPREAD LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN AND HIGH ELEVATION
SNOW THROUGH TONIGHT. THE PRECIPITATION WILL TAPER OFF BY EARLY
SATURDAY FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST. THE HIGHEST PRECIPITATION
TOTALS...GENERALLY AROUND ONE INCH...WILL OCCUR OVER THE MOUNTAINS
AND THE EASTERN SLOPES OF THE MOUNTAINS. FOR SUNDAY THROUGH MID
NEXT WEEK...A STRENGTHENING HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE OVER THE EASTERN
PACIFIC OCEAN WILL BRING A RENEWED PERIOD OF WARMER AND DRIER THAN
NORMAL WEATHER ACROSS THE FIRE DISTRICTS.

Discussion from LAXFWFLOX

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WILL
BRING A CHANCE OF LIGHT SHOWERS TO MAINLY THE EASTERN PORTION OF LA
COUNTY FRIDAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY. STRENGTHENING NORTHEAST WINDS ARE
EXPECTED OVER THE WEEKEND, ESPECIALLY SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY, AS
SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE DEVELOPS OVER THE GREAT BASIN AND NORTHEAST
FLOW ALOFT INCREASES. HUMIDITIES WILL REMAIN RELATIVELY HIGH
SATURDAY, BUT WILL FALL INTO THE TEENS AND 20S BY SUNDAY WITH WIND
GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH POSSIBLE IN THE VENTURA/LA MTNS. WINDS WILL
DECREASE MONDAY AND REMAIN GENERALLY LIGHT MOST OF NEXT WEEK AS A
RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE DEVELOPS OVER THE STATE. DAYTIME HUMIDITIES
WILL REMAIN IN THE TEENS AND 20S NEXT WEEK, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER
ELEVATIONS. GOOD OVERNIGHT RECOVERIES EXPECTED IN MOST AREAS EXCEPT
THE MOUNTAINS.

Discussion from SFOFWFHNX

A WEAK TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL BRING A CHANCE
OF LIGHT SHOWERS TO THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERT TONIGHT THROUGH
EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. DRY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL FROM SATURDAY
AFTERNOON THROUGH NEXT WEEK. TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR TO SLIGHTLY
ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH THE PERIOD WITH MODERATELY HIGH HUMIDITIES.

Discussion from RNOFWFVEF

A BROAD UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL ALLOW RAIN AND HIGH
ELEVATION SNOW TO SPREAD NORTH ACROSS MUCH OF THE MOJAVE DESERT AND
SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN TODAY INTO TONIGHT. FOG WILL BE POSSIBLE
OVERNIGHT IN AREAS THAT SEE PRECIPITATION TODAY. PRECIPITATION WILL
TAPER OFF FROM NORTH TO SOUTH ON SATURDAY AS THE SYSTEM SLOWLY MOVES
AWAY TO THE SOUTHEAST. DRY WEATHER IS LIKELY FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS
OF FEBRUARY WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES.

Discussion from PHXFWFPSR

PERIODS OF RAIN ARE EXPECTED THROUGH SATURDAY..AS MOISTURE ASSOCIATED
WITH A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM LINGERS OVER THE REGION. THERE IS A SLIGHT
CHANCE OF AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST AND
SOUTH-CENTRAL ARIZONA BOTH TODAY AND ON SATURDAY. WINDS WILL REMAIN
GENERALLY LIGHT...WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF GILA
COUNTY...WHERE SOME GUSTIER SOUTHEAST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TODAY THROUGH
THIS EVENING.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY GUSTY WINDS...

NOTE...ADDITIONAL FIRE WEATHER FORECAST INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND
IN THE AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION. SEE PRODUCT PHXAFDPSR.
