.DISCUSSION...HIGH PRESSURE SITUATED ACROSS THE REGION TODAY IS
MAINTAINING A DRY AND STABLE AIRMASS AT THE SURFACE...WITH WINDS
GENERALLY BEING DRIVEN BY SLOPE FLOWS. THIS HIGH WILL SLIDE EAST
THIS AFTERNOON ALLOWING SOUTHERLY FLOW ALOFT TO SPREAD OVER THE
BURN AREA. THIS FLOW MAY MIX DOWN AT TIMES AND OCCASIONALLY
OVERWHELM THE LOCAL SLOPE FLOW. GIVEN THE STABLE AIRMASS IN
PLACE CLEARING INDICES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW 500 THROUGH
THE DAY.

SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN DURING THE DAY
FRIDAY AND INTO FRIDAY NIGHT...AHEAD OF A MOIST PACIFIC STORM
SYSTEM WHICH WILL REACH THE AREA SATURDAY. GUSTS IN EXCESS OF
40 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS FRIDAY. THE
COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM WILL ARRIVE SATURDAY
MORNING BRINGING A PERIOD OF RAIN AND SNOW...WITH SNOW LEVELS
FALLING TO NEAR 8000 FEET. A BREAK IN PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED
LATER SATURDAY BEFORE THE PARENT STORM SYSTEM CROSSES THE AREA
SUNDAY...BRINGING ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOWFALL. AT THIS POINT
SNOWFALL TOTALS LOOK TO REMAIN IN THE 1 TO 4 INCH RANGE SUNDAY.
