HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

THE FLOOD POTENTIAL IS CURRENTLY LOW FOR THE ENTIRE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION....

THE UPPER LEVEL PATTERN CURRENTLY HAS A LOW OVER THE BERING STRAIT
REGION. THIS LOW IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN STATIONARY THROUGH
SATURDAY... AND GRADUALLY WEAKEN. AN ASSOCIATED TROUGH AXIS WILL BE
ALIGNED ALONG THE WEST COAST BY SATURDAY. ANOTHER CLOSED LOW WILL
DEVELOP JUST SOUTH OF THE AKPEN BY SUNDAY... AND MOVE INLAND OVER
SOUTHWEST MAINLAND ALASKA MONDAY. RIDGING OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF
THE STATE WILL GRADUALLY MOVE TO THE EAST.

AREAS OF RAIN THROUGHOUT THE SOUTHERN AND WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE
STATE TODAY AND TONIGHT. HEAVIEST RAIN WILL BE OVER THE AKPEN AND
KODIAK ISLAND WITH UP TO AN INCH AND A HALF. THE HEAVIEST RAIN FOR
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WILL BE OVER THE KENAI PENINSULA AND THE WESTERN
PORTION OF PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND. LOCALIZED AMOUNTS OF 3 INCHES
POSSIBLE IN UPSLOPE REGIONS.

ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR SOUTHWEST MAINLAND ALASKA.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR ALL OF ALASKA EXCEPT THE NORTH SLOPE.
