...RECORD MONTHLY MAXIMUM RAINFALL SET AT AUSTIN CAMP MABRY...

IT WAS A RECORD MONTH FOR RAINFALL DUE MAINLY TO THE INFLUENCE OF
HURRICANE HARVEY. THE TOTAL MONTHLY RAINFALL FOR AUGUST 2017 IS
10.44 INCHES. OF THIS TOTAL AMOUNT, 7.94 INCHES FELL FROM THE 25TH
THROUGH THE 28TH OF THE MONTH.

THIS NEW MONTHLY RAINFALL AMOUNT BREAKS THE PREVIOUS RECORD MONTHLY
RAINFALL OF 9.48 INCHES SET IN 2001. DURING THE LATTER PART OF
AUGUST 2001, SURFACE LOW PRESSURE OVER MEXICO COMBINED WITH AN
INFLUX OF MOISTURE FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO TO PRODUCE SEVERAL DAYS
WITH RAINY WEATHER.
