Daily River And Lake Summary
National Weather Service Columbia Sc
1158 AM EDT Tue May 23 2017

...All River Forecast Points are below flood stage...

...Moderate river rises have occurred on a few area basins...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms yesterday afternoon and
evening produced locally heavy rainfall. 24-hour totals varied
widely across the forecast area, with several locations reporting
amounts in excess of two-and-one-half inches. On the other end,
numerous locations received less than one-quarter inch.

The combination of a very moist atmosphere, a nearly stationary
frontal boundary and upper-level energy support will provide more
widespread significant rainfall today through the daytime Wednesday.
Additional amounts in excess of one-and-one-half inches are likely.

Runoff combined with elevated flows from upstream will continue to
produce moderate river rises at times, with the potential for minor
flooding. The threat of flash flooding will also continue along
smaller creeks and streams, in poor-drainage and urban areas.
