TENNESSEE WEATHER SUMMARY FOR THE WEEK ENDING SUNDAY JULY 20 2014

THE WEEK BEGAN WITH VERY HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS OCCURRING OVER
MUCH THE STATE OF TENNESSEE. HOWEVER BY TUESDAY...A STRONG COLD
FRONT MOVED THROUGH THE STATE AND BROUGHT BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED AHEAD OF THE FRONT. SOME STORMS
BECAME SEVERE. THE COOL TEMPERATURES CONTINUED THROUGH THE REMAINDER
OF THE WEEK AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKED JUST TO THE SOUTH OF
TENNESSEE ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. WIDESPREAD RAIN OCCURRED WITH THE
SYSTEM. THIS KEPT TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 60S TO LOWER 70S FOR
HIGHS ON FRIDAY. AS A RESULT...SEVERAL STATIONS SET RECORD LOW
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES WITH MEMPHIS SETTING AN ALL TIME RECORD LOW
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH OF JULY OF 69 DEGREES.

TEMPERATURES ACROSS TENNESSEE LAST WEEK AVERAGED SLIGHTLY BELOW
NORMAL. AVERAGE HIGHS RANGED FROM THE UPPER 70S TO THE LOWER 80S.
AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 60S. THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE OF
THE WEEK WAS 95 DEGREES WHICH OCCURRED IN MEMPHIS ON MONDAY. THE
COLDEST TEMPERATURE OF THE WEEK WAS 52 DEGREES WHICH OCCURRED IN
CLARKSVILLE AND BRISTOL ON THURSDAY MORNING.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS AVERAGED NEAR NORMAL ACROSS WESTERN AND MIDDLE
TENNESSEE WHILE THE PLATEAU RECEIVED SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL AMOUNTS.
MEANWHILE...EAST TENNESSEE RECEIVED WELL ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALL FOR
THE WEEK. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR THE WEEK RANGED FROM 0.12
INCHES IN CLARKSVILLE TO 2.94 INCHES IN KNOXVILLE. THE HIGHEST DAILY
RAINFALL AMOUNT WAS 1.94 INCHES WHICH OCCURRED IN JACKSON ON
MONDAY.

THE OUTLOOK FOR THE REST OF JULY IS FOR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE. WHILE THE
OUTLOOK FOR AUGUST CALLS FOR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND EQUAL
CHANCES FOR ABOVE...BELOW...OR NEAR NORMAL PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE
ENTIRE STATE OF TENNESSEE.
