MOUNTAINS BEGINNING TODAY...

.A COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH A LARGE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL
SWEEP ACROSS THE REGION TODAY. IN THE WAKE OF THE FRONT...DEEP
MOISTURE AND FORCING WILL PERSIST AHEAD OF A MID LEVEL
DISTURBANCE. COLD AND MOIST NORTHWEST WINDS INTO THE APPALACHIANS
WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE TENNESSEE BORDER
COUNTIES THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IN ADDITION...GUSTY NORTHWEST
WINDS WILL BRING MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE REGION
WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED
A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM
EST TUESDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT
FOR THIS AREA.

* LOCATIONS...THE SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS
  NEAR THE TENNESSEE BORDER.

* HAZARDS...PERIODS OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW THROUGH TONIGHT.
  ALSO...ROADS THAT BECOME WET THIS AFTERNOON MAY FREEZE
  OVERNIGHT...CAUSING SLIPPERY CONDITIONS. ACCUMULATING
  SNOWFALL WILL LIKELY CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IN
  ADDITION...NORTHWEST WINDS COMBINED WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE
  SINGLE DIGITS TO LOW TEENS MAY YIELD WIND CHILL VALUES BETWEEN
  MINUS 5 TO MINUS 15 WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MORNINGS.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT...WITH ACCUMULATION
  OCCURRING MOST RAPIDLY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.
  HOWEVER...DEEP MOISTURE AND STRENGTHENING NORTHWEST WINDS WILL
  STILL PRODUCE LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS AT TIMES FROM TUESDAY MORNING
  THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF GENERALLY 2 TO 5
  INCHES...WITH THE GREATEST ACCUMULATION POTENTIAL BEING ON
  WESTERN FACING SLOPES. AREAS ALONG THE TENNESSEE BORDER MAY SEE
  UP TO 6 INCHES BY TUESDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...SNOW AND SNOW PACKED ROADS WILL MAKE TRAVEL
  DANGEROUS. SNOW ACCUMULATION AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS COULD RESULT
  IN SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES AND DOWNED TREES.

* TEMPERATURES...FALLING INTO THE TEENS BY EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.
