URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAY ME
413 PM EST MON JAN 23 2017

...WINTER STORM TO AFFECT THE AREA TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY...

.LOW PRESSURE CURRENTLY OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST WILL TRACK
NORTHEAST TOWARD NEW ENGLAND TODAY INTO TUESDAY. A VARIETY OF
DIFFERENT PRECIPITATION TYPES ARE POSSIBLE AS THE STORM NEARS THE
AREA. COLD AIR WILL BE IN PLACE IN THE LOWER LEVELS...BUT WARM AIR
SURGING NORTHWARD AHEAD OF THE STORM WILL BE ENOUGH TO CHANGE
PRECIPITATION FROM SNOW TO SLEET...OR EVEN FREEZING RAIN. IN
ADDITION...A COASTAL FRONT IS LIKELY TO FORM WHICH COULD BRING
ENOUGH LOW LEVEL WARM AIR TO CHANGE PRECIPITATION TO RAIN NEAR THE
COAST. THE TIMING OF THE CHANGE OVER FROM SNOW TO MIXED
PRECIPITATION REMAINS LOW CONFIDENCE. PLAIN RAIN LOOKS TO STAY
CONFINED TO SOUTHEAST NEW HAMPSHIRE AND NEAR THE COAST IN WESTERN
MAINE.
