Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
501 AM MST Mon Feb 27 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM MST THIS
EVENING FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 247 FOR LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS...

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Southwest winds will strengthen
today ahead of an approaching weather system. The winds will be
strongest and humidity lowest over the plains south of Interstate
70. While it will be mild, dry, and breezy from the Denver area
eastward across northeastern Colorado, Red Flag conditions are
expected to be met south of a line from about Burlington to
Colorado Springs. Mountain areas will also be windy but will have
higher humidities.

The winds will continue into the evening, then become more
westerly and decrease later tonight. Humidities will rise once the
sun goes down. Areas of light snow will develop over the mountains
today, with more significant snow tonight, especially near the
Wyoming border.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Tuesday through Friday...An upper
level trof will move across Colorado on Tuesday. Snow will
continue in the mountains, with a chance of snow over the
plains late Tuesday afternoon into early evening, especially
south and southeast of Denver. The system will bring cooler
temperatures to the region through Wednesday. A strong northwest
flow pattern will develop over the state with gusty winds at
times in the mountains and some lingering snow on late Tuesday
night and Wednesday. Dry and warmer for Thursday and Friday.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
