Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
341 AM MDT Tue Jun 27 2017

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Very warm temperatures, low
relative humidity, and gusty west winds will develop behind a dry
line that will track east across Colorado. Relative humidity is
expected to bottom out in the teens with winds gusts in the 30 to
40 mph range. This will result in Red Flag conditions for parts of
the east, mainly the mountain valleys. There will be a slight
chance for high-based showers and thunderstorms over north central
Colorado. This activity is expected to produce gusty winds and
little rainfall.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday through Saturday...A series of weak
cold fronts and a shift to northwest flow aloft will gradually trend
temperatures downward through the end of the week. There will also
be at least a slight chance of thunderstorms each afternoon and evening.
A few thunderstorms forming along the Palmer Divide could turn severe
Wednesday afternoon, with large hail and damaging winds the principle
threat. By Friday temperatures will be several degrees below average.
Then look for a slight warm up on Saturday. The cooler temperatures
and higher humidities would normally reduce the fire danger, although
gusty winds produced by the late day storms will keep the fire danger
elevated through the period.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
