...THE FLOOD ADVISORY FOR AN ICE JAM REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM
EST WEDNESDAY FOR NORTHWESTERN MECOSTA COUNTY...

At 730 PM EST, emergency management reported an ice jam was causing
minor flooding along the Muskegon River in the vicinity of Old
Logging Trail Road between the towns of Paris and Hersey. The backup
of water is causing minor flooding, with water rising into the yards
of several homes and affecting travel along Old Logging Trail Road.
Water levels are near steady at this time.

Local Emergency Management is monitoring the situation closely.
Residents along the Muskegon River from Paris upstream to the
Mecosta-Osceola County line should monitor river levels closely as
ice jams can cause rapid fluctuations of several feet.

Locations along the Muskegon River east of Paris.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
