URGENT - MARINE WEATHER MESSAGE

...NORTHWEST GALES TO GRADUALLY SUBSIDE THIS MORNING...

.A GALE WARNING CONTINUES FOR SOUTH HALF OF LAKE HURON THIS MORNING
AS JUST ENOUGH THERMAL TROUGHING/GRADIENT PERSISTS. WINDS WILL
SUBSIDE BELOW GALE FORCE DURING THE AFTERNOON HOWEVER...AS HIGH
PRESSURE BUILDS INTO THE CENTRAL GREAT LAKES...BECOMING LIGHT
TONIGHT AS THE CENTER OF THE HIGH SETTLES OVER LOWER MICHIGAN. WHILE
WINDS WILL DECREASE...HIGH WAVES AND FRIGID TEMPERATURES WILL
CONTINUE THE THREAT FOR HEAVY FREEZING SPRAY THROUGH THIS EVENING
OVER THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE LAKE. WINDS WILL SHIFT TO THE SOUTH
AND INCREASE ON SUNDAY AS THE HIGH EXITS EAST...BUT GENERALLY
TOPPING OUT AROUND 20 KNOTS....INTO MONDAY.

  UP TO 25 KNOTS FROM THE NORTHWEST WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 KNOTS.
  THE LARGEST EXPECTED SIGNIFICANT WAVES WILL BE 7 FEET WITH A
  POTENTIAL MAXIMUM WAVE HEIGHT OF 10 FEET.

* TIMING: THE MAXIMUM WINDS ARE EXPECTED AROUND 6 AM EST
  SATURDAY WITH THE LARGEST WAVES EXPECTED AROUND 4 AM EST
  SATURDAY.

MARINERS NOT TRAINED TO OPERATE IN THESE CONDITIONS OR VESSELS
NOT PROPERLY EQUIPPED TO DO SO...REMAIN IN PORT OR AVOID THE
WARING AREA.

A GALE WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 34 TO 47 KNOTS ARE IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES
EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE
HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS.
