...Forecast Flooding Changed from Minor to Moderate Severity for the
following rivers in Southwest Lower Michigan...
  Thornapple River Near Caledonia affecting Kent County

.Runoff from recent heavy rainfall is continuing to cause rises on the
larger rivers and streams. Water along the Thornapple River near
Hastings is starting to move downstream, and is expected to cause
moderate flooding when the crest reaches Caledonia.

A wintry mix of precipitation is expected late tonight into Friday
morning. This precipitation is not expected to have an impact on river
levels or worsen expected flooding.

The following forecast is based on observed
and forecast 48 hour precipitation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock
you off your feet... and a depth of 2 feet will float your car.
Never try to walk... swim... or drive through such swift water.  If
you come upon flood waters... stop... turn around and go another way.


This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its flood
stage.

...Forecast flooding increased from Minor to Moderate severity...
The flood warning continues for
  the Thornapple River Near Caledonia.
* until late Monday night.
* At 12:45 PM Thursday the stage was 10.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor Flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, the river will continue rising to near 12.0 feet by
  tomorrow evening. The river will fall below flood stage Monday
  afternoon.
* Impact, at 13.0 feet...Thornapple River Drive is flooded.
* Flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 11.7 feet
  on Apr 19 2013.
