...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood
Warning for portions of the following rivers in central and southern
Indiana...

  East Fork White River...White River...Tippecanoe River...Wabash
  River...Wildcat Creek...Eel River...Sugar Creek...

.Extensive flooding will develop along rivers and streams in central
and southern Indiana during the first week of May.  Flooding will
affect numerous local and state roads...considerable agricultural
land and some residential areas.  Flooding will begin possibly as
early as Saturday evening and continue for 10 days or more in
southwest Indiana.

Rainfall of 2 to over 3 inches is expected from Friday evening
through Monday morning.  The most rainfall is expected along the
Indiana-Illinois state line and the least along the Indiana-Ohio
state line.

Significant flooding will develop across much of western Indiana and
bordering eastern Illinois.  Near major flooding is possible in some
areas. Flood crests may be the highest experienced since April 2013
in portions of west central Indiana and the highest since December
2015 and early January 2016 in other areas.

Significant river flooding impacts numerous local and state roads ...
extensive agricultural lands and some residential areas.  Persons in
flood prone areas should monitor weather and river conditions through
at least Monday.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

  the White River at Newberry.
* from Monday afternoon to Sunday May 07.
* At 11:30 AM Friday the stage was 4.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Monday early afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 19.2 feet by Wednesday morning.  The river
  will fall below flood stage by Saturday before midnight.
* At 19.0 feet...Extensive agricultural flooding is in progress.  Some
  state and county roads flood.  County Road 600 W just north of
  river flooded by possibly more than two feet of water for a
  considerable distance in Mary Long Cutoff Area.  County Roads 900 W
  and 750 S begin to flood in Greene County.

* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Monday early afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 20.6 feet by early Thursday morning.
* At 20.0 feet...Water is at Critical levels for makeshift levees.
  Most of bottomlands flood.  Old Vincennes road and State Road 358
  between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on
  average about once a year.

* At 21.0 feet...Extensive flooding blocks access to River Bend
  Hospital by North River Road. Shamrock Park and the old Municipal
  Golf Course are extensively flooded.  Residents along North River
  Rd, Davis Ferry Rd area and Barton Beach Road area are impacted by
  flood waters.  In Tippecanoe County Barton Beach Rd, SR 225, CR 950
  W and portions of Division and CR 700 W are flooded near the river.

* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday before midnight and
  continue to rise to near 25.4 feet by Wednesday morning.
* At 25.6 feet...The Wabash River is nearly 3 miles wide along SR 234
  by backing up into Coal Creek on the west side of Lodi and the
  Vermillion River on the north side of Cayuga.  Flood waters are at
  the edge of the north side of SR 234 but not on the road.  North
  Sandhill Road and W CR 260 N on the northeast side of Covington
  extensively flooded in places.  Silver Island Road just south of SR
  32 is impassable.

* At 24.0 feet...A few agricultural levees fail.  Water enters about
  50 homes in the North Lake, Izaak Walton, South Lake areas and near
  Fort Harrison Country Club.  Some evacuations are necessary.
  Significant flooding in progress of industrial area on east bank
  near I-70.  Backwater extends up Lost Creek to Lafayette Street.
  Land on west side of U.S. 150 and railroad tracks begin to flood.

* At 26.0 feet...Island Creek Levee on Indiana side is in danger of
  failing.  There are 2 farms on higher ground in protected area.  A
  few evacuations are necessary in Illinois towns of Hutsonville,
  York, and possibly Darwin.  Local improved road south of
  Hutsonville to Palestine floods extensively in places.

* At 25.5 feet...Approaching major flooding with sandbagging possible
  in Hutsonville and on local levees.  Installation of Gill Township
  Flood Gage at Riverton is necessary if river continues to rise.
  State Road 154 between Hutsonville and Graysville is closed.  All
  river roads improved or otherwise are flooded, some by several feet
  of water.  East side of Palestine extensively flooded including all
  of Leaverton Park.

  east of the Eel River.  Several county roads flood extensively.
  Persons in river cabins move cars and possibly belongings to high
  ground.  Agricultural levees are threatened.  Poland-Bowling Green
  Road is impassable in several places.

  Shields and Vallonia flood.  Roads that begin to flood include 258
  east of Cortland...County Road 725 N just north of the gaging site
  and Ewing Road near Brownstown.

  impassable.  These include Buddha Road south of the gage and
  Lawrenceport Road.  All local roads across the East Fork of the
  White River are threatened by high water, and some are closed.
