The best chance for storms will be over the peaks of the central mountains and, later this afternoon, over and near Pikes Peak. At this time, storms are not expected to be very strong, but if a storm does manage to intensify, outflow winds to 45 mph, frequent lightning, and some small hail could be possible. Critical fire weather conditions will also be present this afternoon over our southeast mountain, mainly below 7500 feet. Later this evening, showers will spread snowfall to the peaks of the central mountains, dropping 3-5 inches over parts of the Collegiate Peaks and the Mosquito Range by tomorrow morning. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Isolated high based afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be possible over and near the higher terrain Sunday and Monday. The main threats from any storm is expected to be lightning and gusty outflow winds up to 45 mph. Some light snow accumulations will also be possible early Sunday, mainly over the northern Sawatch and Mosquito ranges above 10,000 feet.
