Isolated lightning storms will be possible this afternoon and early evening over Okeechobee and Osceola counties and the inland portions of the Treasure coast counties of Martin, Saint Lucie and Indian River. The main threats with any storms will be gusty winds, lightning strikes and locally heavy downpours. .EXCESSIVE HEAT IMPACT... Continued above normal temperatures combined with some humidity will produce peak heat indices around 100 this afternoon mainly south of Orlando, especially around Lake Okeechobee. .DENSE FOG/SMOKE IMPACT... Patchy dense fog has formed across portions of Brevard, Osceola, Indian River, Saint Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties early this morning. Visibilities may be reduced below one half mile at times. If dense fog is encountered, slow down and leave plenty of space between you and vehicles in front of you. The fog should lift by 8 am. .RIP CURRENT IMPACT... A Moderate Risk of dangerous rip currents will exist at all central Florida Atlantic beaches today. Be sure to swim near a lifeguard and never enter the ocean alone. .FIRE WEATHER IMPACT... Above normal temperatures and low humidity will continue to produce a fire weather danger. Light winds this morning will turn northeast to east and increase 10 to 15 mph this afternoon. Most areas will remain dry but a few lightning storms are possible over inland Martin, Okeechobee and Osceola counties this afternoon. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. A Moderate Risk of life-threatening rip currents will exist at all central Florida Atlantic beaches Friday, becoming a High Risk this weekend. Sensitive fire weather conditions will continue across east central Florida into the weekend as east winds increase and very slim rain chances. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Visibility of half a mile or less at times may occur through 8am. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution if encountering fog this morning. Slow down, increase following distance, and use low-beam headlights when driving through patchy, locally dense fog. Plan ahead for extra travel time to destinations. Visibility is forecast to improve after 8am as fog dissipates. $$
