This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest North
Carolina...east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Scattered to numerous storms will move west to east across the
area this afternoon into the early evening. A few stronger storms
with locally gusty winds and heavy downpours will be possible at
times.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Scattered storms are probable Wednesday afternoon and evening,
some of which could be strong, but most likely non-severe.
Damaging winds are the main threat with any stronger storm. Also,
abundant moisture and potential for repeated storms could lead to
isolated flooding in low-lying and flood prone areas.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN COCKE AND SOUTHEASTERN
SEVIER COUNTIES THROUGH 445 PM EDT...

At 340 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 8 miles west of Newport to 10 miles west of
Smoky Mountains-Big Creek to 7 miles northeast of Smoky
Mountains-Newfound Gap. Movement was northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 45 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Newport, Smoky Mountains-Newfound Gap, Smoky Mountains-Balsam
Mountain, Pittman Center, Del Rio, Round Mountain, Cosby, Hartford,
Max Patch, and Fairgarden.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Occasional cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
