The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
  North central Chilton County in Alabama...
  West central St. Clair County in Alabama...
  Western Shelby County in Alabama...
  Northeastern Bibb County in Alabama...
  Jefferson County in Alabama...

* Until 430 PM CST

* At 123 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
  the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster, Bessemer, Homewood,
  Pelham, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Helena, Hueytown, Gardendale,
  Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Calera, Fairfield, Chelsea, Fultondale and
  Montevallo.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This
additional rain will make minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

SEVERE STORMS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY ACROSS AREAS SOUTH OF I-20 FROM
10 AM THROUGH 3 PM. THREATS INCLUDE DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS,
LARGE HAIL, AND TORNADOES. THE HIGHEST TORNADO THREAT AREA IS
ALONG AND SOUTH OF I-85. HEAVY RAINFALL COULD RESULT IN LOCALIZED
FLOODING OF URBAN AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS.
