THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR THE COUNTIES SERVED BY THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN BIRMINGHAM.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

ACCUMULATIONS OF FREEZING RAIN OF ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH OR MORE IS
POSSIBLE AFTER 3 AM FOR AREAS NEAR AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM VERNON
TO JASPER TO ONEONTA. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP TO NEAR OR JUST BELOW
FREEZING AFTER 3 AM THURSDAY MORNING. TRAVEL WILL BECOME DANGEROUS
OR IMPOSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS AND IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. POWER
OUTAGES WILL BECOME LIKELY WHERE ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE THE
GREATEST.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

ARCTIC AIR WILL CONTINUE PUSHING SOUTHWARD INTO CENTRAL ALABAMA
THURSDAY MORNING. LIGHTER FREEZING RAIN ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED
AS FAR SOUTH AS THE INTERSTATE 59 CORRIDOR. UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN
INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE STARTING AS EARLY AS 9 AM
ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM DEMOPOLIS...TO PELHAM...TO
ANNISTON. THE FREEZING RAIN OR DRIZZLE MAY CAUSE TRAVEL
DIFFICULTIES UNTIL TEMPERATURES RISE ABOVE FREEZING BETWEEN 2 AND
3 PM THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

IN ADDITION...WINDS WILL BE STRONG DURING THE DAY THURSDAY WITH
GENERALLY 15 TO 20 MPH WINDS GUSTING TO 30 MPH AT TIMES.

...WINTER STORM EXPECTED ON THURSDAY...

.AN APPROACHING STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO BRING ANOTHER ROUND
OF FROZEN PRECIPITATION TO CENTRAL ALABAMA ON THURSDAY. A STRONG
ARCTIC FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA OVERNIGHT WITH MUCH COLDER
AIR MOVING INTO THE REGION. AREAS OF RAIN WILL BEGIN TO CHANGE OVER
TO FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET EARLY THURSDAY MORNING LASTING THROUGH
THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED
ACROSS NORTHWESTERN PORTIONS OF CENTRAL ALABAMA WHERE ACCUMULATION
SLEET WILL BE POSSIBLE AS WELL. TEMPERATURES ACROSS NORTHWEST
ALABAMA ARE NOT EXPECTED TO CLIMB ABOVE FREEZING UNTIL FRIDAY
