   DANGER.

 * LIGHTNING FROM THUNDERSTORMS COULD CAUSE NEW FIRE STARTS.

 * VERY HOT TEMPERATURES: HIGH
 * VERY WARM OVERNIGHT LOWS: MEDIUM.
 * THUNDERSTORMS: HIGH FOR MOUNTAINS LOW FOR VALLEY.

.TIMING AND STRENGTH...
 * HEAT IMPACTS GREATEST WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.

 * THUNDERSTORM AND LIGHTNING POTENTIAL GREATEST THURSDAY AND
   FRIDAY.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL STRENGTHEN OVER NORCAL. THE HOTTEST
TEMPERATURES WILL BE TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. THE POTENTIAL FOR
HEAT ILLNESS WILL PEAK WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. ENHANCED
THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL INCREASING THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AS
MONSOONAL MOISTURE SPREADS OVER NORCAL. SOME CLOUD COVER AND THE
DELTA BREEZE MAY BRING RELIEF FRIDAY INTO THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND.

ADJACENT FOOTHILLS...

.HIGH PRESSURE STRENGTHENS OVER NORTHERN CALIFORNIA THIS WEEK.
HOTTEST TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY WITH MANY
LOCATIONS EXPERIENCING 110-115 DEGREES NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80.
LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE HEAT OVERNIGHT AS LOWS STAY WARM IN THE
UPPER 70S TO AROUND 80. DAYTIME HEAT WITH WARM OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL
MAKE IT CHALLENGING TO GET RELIEF, ESPECIALLY FOR RESIDENTS WHO DO
NOT HAVE ACCESS TO AIR CONDITIONING.

* TEMPERATURE...HIGH TEMPERATURES 110-115...LOW TEMPERATURES 75-80

* IMPACTS...HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES POSSIBLE TO LIKELY IF ACTION
  NOT TAKEN

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HOT
TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. HOT DAYTIME HIGHS AND WARM OVERNIGHT
LOWS WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT
