URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SACRAMENTO CA

...RED FLAG WARNING FOR A PORTION OF INTERIOR NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA...

.NORTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE AND LOWER HUMIDITY OVER THE
AFFECTED AREA TODAY. THE NORTHERLY WINDS WILL CONTINUE OVER MOST
OF THE AREA TONIGHT RESULTING IN POOR HUMIDITY RECOVERY,
ESPECIALLY MID TO UPPER SLOPES AND RIDGES. LOW HUMIDITY WILL
CONTINUE ON SATURDAY WITH A GRADUAL DECREASE IN NORTHERLY WINDS.
GRADUAL HUMIDITY RECOVERY IS EXPECTED SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY.

  FIRE WEATHER ZONE 216. FIRE WEATHER ZONE 217. FIRE WEATHER ZONE

* HUMIDITY...POOR OVERNIGHT RECOVERY FROM 20-30 PERCENT OVER UPPER
  SLOPES AND RIDGES TONIGHT...AND LOW HUMIDITY FROM 8-14 PERCENT
  SATURDAY.

* WIND...NORTHERLY WIND 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 25 MPH.

* HIGHEST THREAT AREA...MID TO UPPER SLOPES AND RIDGES BELOW 4500
  FEET IN SHASTA, TEHAMA, GLENN, AND PORTIONS OF LAKE AND BUTTE
  COUNTIES, AND THE WEST SIDE OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY.

* IMPACTS...EASIER FIRE STARTS AND RAPID SPREAD OF FIRE DUE TO
  DRY FUELS AND DRY NORTHERLY WINDS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW....OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF
WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES CAN
CONTRIBUTE TO EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR.
