THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES/OXNARD HAS ISSUED A
HIGH SURF ADVISORY, WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM FRIDAY TO NOON
PDT SUNDAY. THE BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

* SURF...HIGH SURF 14 TO 20 FEET IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY FRIDAY
MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING ALONG NORTHWEST AND
WEST FACING BEACHES. A STRONG STORM IN THE GULF OF ALASKA WAS
GENERATING LARGE SWELLS WITH A LONG PERIOD. THESE LARGE SWELLS
WILL MOVE INTO THE COASTAL WATERS NORTH OF POINT CONCEPTION
BRINGING A SUDDEN INCREASE IN THE LARGE SURF. SURF WILL INCREASE
FROM 10 TO 14 FEET TO 14 TO 20 FEET BY LATE FRIDAY EVENING AND
PERSIST INTO SATURDAY MORNING. THE SURF IS EXPECTED TO DIMINISH
SOME BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY MORNING BUT REMAINING
ABOVE 10 FEET THROUGH THE PERIOD.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHWEST AND WEST FACING BEACHES ACROSS THE CENTRAL
  COAST.

* IMPACTS...LARGE POWERFUL AND DAMAGING WAVES AND STRONG CURRENTS
WILL CREATE A RISK OF OCEAN DROWNING. SNEAKER WAVES CAN SUDDENLY
OVERRUN PREVIOUSLY DRY BEACHES AND JETTIES. FLOODING OF LOW
LYING BEACH PARKING LOTS, HARBOR WALKWAYS, AND CAMPGROUNDS WILL
BE POSSIBLE WITH THE HIGH SURF. A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY COULD
BE ADDED BY LATER SHIFTS FOR FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY
  MORNING.

AM PDT FRIDAY AND ABOUT THE SAME TIDE HEIGHT ON SATURDAY AROUND
