NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LOS ANGELES/OXNARD CA
227 PM PDT FRI OCT 24 2014

...ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS FOR LOS ANGELES AND
VENTURA BEACHES SUNDAY...

.A BUILDING NORTHWEST SWELL WILL MOVE INTO THE COASTAL WATERS
SATURDAY NIGHT...BRINGING RISING SURF TO WEST FACING BEACHES OF
LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES. THE HIGHER SURF WILL BE
ACCOMPANIED BY INCREASING RIP AND LONG-SHORE CURRENTS. THE SURF
AND RIP CURRENT RISK WILL BEGIN TO DIMINISH SUNDAY EVENING AND
OVERNIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT
THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES/OXNARD HAS ISSUED A
BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP
CURRENTS...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM EARLY SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH
LATE SUNDAY NIGHT.

* HAZARDS AND TIMING...SURF WILL BUILD TO 3 TO 5 FEET WITH MAXIMUM
  SETS TO 7 FEET ON EXPOSED WEST FACING BEACHES...ALONG WITH AN
  INCREASING RISK OF STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND LONG-SHORE CURRENTS.

* IMPACTS...THE ELEVATED SURF WILL LEAD TO DANGEROUS SWIMMING AND
  HAZARDOUS SURF CONDITIONS FOR INEXPERIENCED SURFERS...AND AN
  INCREASED LIKELIHOOD OF DANGEROUS CURRENTS IN THE SURF ZONE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS TO BEACH AND
SURF ZONE SAFETY ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. CAUTION SHOULD BE
USED WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER. STAY NEAR OCCUPIED LIFEGUARD
TOWERS AND NEVER SWIM ALONE. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM
PARALLEL TO THE SHORE.
