A LARGE LONG-PERIOD SOUTH SWELL WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE ELEVATED SURF
AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ALONG SOUTH-FACING BEACHES THROUGH AT LEAST
FRIDAY.

.A LONG PERIOD SOUTH SWELL WILL BEGIN TO MOVE INTO THE WATERS
TODAY...RESULTING IN BUILDING SURF AND AN INCREASING RISK OF
STRONG RIP CURRENTS. THE SURF MAY REACH HIGH SURF THRESHOLDS BY
THURSDAY...AND THE ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS ARE
EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON PDT TODAY
THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

* HAZARDS...SURF BUILDING TO 3 TO 5 FEET THIS AFTERNOON AND TO 4
  TO 6 FEET OR HIGHER ON THURSDAY. POWERFUL BREAKERS ARE EXPECTED
  DUE TO THE LONG PERIOD OF THE SWELL...ALONG WITH STRONG RIP
  CURRENTS AND LONGSHORE CURRENTS. SNEAKER WAVES WILL ALSO BE
  POSSIBLE DURING THIS TIME.

* LOCATIONS...THE HIGHEST SURF WILL BE ON SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST
  FACING BEACHES. STRONG CURRENTS WILL AFFECT SOUTH TO WEST
  FACING BEACHES.

* IMPACTS...THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF OCEAN DROWNING. RIP
  CURRENTS CAN PULL SWIMMERS AND SURFERS OUT TO SEA. SNEAKER
  WAVES CAN SUDDENLY WASH PEOPLE OFF OF ROCKS AND JETTIES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS TO BEACH AND
SURF ZONE SAFETY ARE EXPECTED OR DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND WAVES
ARE EXPECTED DUE TO ELEVATED SURF.DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS AND
WAVES ARE EXPECTED DUE TO ELEVATED SURF.OCCURRING. CAUTION SHOULD
BE USED WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER. STAY NEAR OCCUPIED LIFEGUARD
TOWERS AND NEVER SWIM ALONE. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM
PARALLEL TO THE SHORE.
