...LARGE AND POTENTIALLY DAMAGING SURF TO IMPACT THE CENTRAL
COAST TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY...

...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING FOR THE CENTRAL COAST THIS WEEKEND NEAR
TIMES OF HIGH TIDE...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EXPOSED WEST FACING SHORES IN VENTURA
AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES TONIGHT THROUGH LATE SATURDAY...

A LARGE NORTHWEST SWELL GENERATED BY A STORM IN THE GULF OF
ALASKA WILL REACH THE CENTRAL COAST THIS EVENING...WITH SURF
BUILDING RAPIDLY OVERNIGHT. THE SURF IS EXPECTED TO PEAK ON
SATURDAY...WHEN 15 TO 20 FOOT BREAKERS WILL BE LIKELY ON
NORTHWEST FACING BEACHES. LOCALLY HIGHER SETS IN EXCESS OF
20 FEET WILL BE POSSIBLE ON WELL EXPOSED NORTHWEST FACING
BEACHES. SURF THIS LARGE WILL BE CAPABLE OF CAUSING SIGNIFICANT
BEACH EROSION AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES SUCH AS PIERS. IN
ADDITION...THERE WILL BE THE POTENTIAL FOR MINOR COASTAL FLOODING
NEAR TIMES OF HIGH TIDE.

THE LARGE SWELL MAY AFFECT SOME BEACHES SOUTH OF POINT
CONCEPTION...ESPECIALLY IN VENTURA COUNTY. A HIGH SURF ADVISORY
MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THE VENTURA COUNTY BEACHES.

* HAZARDS...SURF 6 TO 8 FEET. STRONG AND FREQUENT RIP CURRENTS.
  HIGHER HIGH TIDE AROUND 6.5 FEET.

* TIMING...A NORTHWEST SWELL WILL BUILD TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY
  MORNING AND THEN SUBSIDE SATURDAY EVENING. PREDICTED HIGHER HIGH TIDE
  IS AROUND 7 AM PST SATURDAY.

* LOCATION...STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND HIGH SURF ALONG EXPOSED WEST
  FACING SHORES ESPECIALLY IN THE SANTA MONICA SOUTH BAY.

* IMPACTS...STRONG RIP CURRENTS IN THE VICINITY OF HIGH SURF.
  MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW DURING HIGHER HIGH TIDE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH
EROSION.
