.DAY ONE... TODAY

PEOPLE TRYING TO ESCAPE THE HEAT AT THE BEACHES WILL FACE HAZARDOUS
RIP CURRENTS. SURF 6 TO 8 FEET WILL CONTINUE ALONG SOUTH FACING
BEACHES OF THE CENTRAL COAST TODAY.  MARINERS IN THE OUTER WATERS
NEAR POINT CONCEPTION WILL SEE HAZARDOUS GALE FORCE WIND GUSTS.

.A LONG PERIOD SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST SWELL WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE
THROUGH THE SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA COASTAL WATERS THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. ELEVATED TO HIGH SURF ON SOUTH-FACING SHORES WILL
CONTINUE TODAY WITH STRONG RIP CURRENTS EXPECTED AT MOST BEACHES
THROUGH THE WEEKEND. THERE WILL ALSO BE A RISK OF WAVES SUDDENLY
WASHING OVER ROCKS OR JETTIES NEAR THE WATER`S EDGE OR UP ONTO
PREVIOUSLY DRY SAND. USE EXTRA CAUTION ON AREA BEACHES DURING
THIS TIME.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM PDT THIS
AFTERNOON...

* SURF AND HAZARDS...SURF ALONG SOUTH FACING BEACHES WILL BE 4 TO
  7 FEET WITH LOCAL SETS TO 8 FEET TODAY. SURF WILL DIMINISH SOME
  SUNDAY...BUT ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS ARE EXPECTED
  THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

* LOCATIONS...THE HIGHEST SURF WILL BE ON SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST
  FACING BEACHES. STRONG RIP CURRENTS WILL OCCUR ON MOST
  BEACHES.

* TIDE...A HIGH TIDE OF NEAR 4.5 FEET IS EXPECTED AROUND 230 PM
  PDT TODAY AND AROUND 130 AM PDT TONIGHT.

* IMPACTS...THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF OCEAN DROWNING. RIP
  CURRENTS CAN PULL SWIMMERS AND SURFERS OUT TO SEA. SNEAKER
  WAVES CAN SUDDENLY WASH PEOPLE OFF OF ROCKS AND JETTIES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF AND RIP CURRENTS WILL
MAKE SWIMMING AND ROCK JETTIES DANGEROUS.

REMEMBER...IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE
UNTIL YOU ARE FREE OF THE POWERFUL CURRENT. ALWAYS SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD.
