...BEACH HAZARD STATEMENT FOR STRONG RIP AND LONGSHORE CURRENTS
AND MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW...

.AN ELEVATED SOUTHERLY SWELL FROM 170 DEGREES AND LARGE TIDAL
SWINGS WILL INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG RIP AND LONGSHORE
CURRENTS THROUGH FRIDAY. ALSO...HIGH TIDES ABOVE 7 FEET WILL
CREATE THE POSSIBILITY OF MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW DURING THE MID
EVENING HOURS TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY
EVENING...

* SURF...3 TO 6 FT WITH LOCAL SETS TO 7 FT AT SOME ORANGE COUNTY
  BEACHES AND 3 TO 5 FT WITH LOCAL SETS TO 6 FT FROM OCEANSIDE
  NORTHWARD IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY. SURF WILL GRADUALLY SUBSIDE FRIDAY.

* TIDES...HIGHEST TIDE OF AROUND 6.8 TO 7 FEET TONIGHT AT 825
  PM...AROUND 7 TO 7.3 FEET FRIDAY NIGHT AT 909 PM...AND AROUND
  6.9 TO 7.2 FEET SATURDAY NIGHT AT 955 PM. LOWEST TIDES WILL BE
  AROUND -1 TO -1.5 FEET FRIDAY AT 333 AM.

* IMPACTS...STRONG RIP AND LONGSHORE WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF
  DROWNING...ESPECIALLY FOR INEXPERIENCED SWIMMERS. HIGH TIDES
  ABOVE 7 FEET WILL CREATE THE POSSIBILITY OF MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW
  FOR LOW LYING AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...RELAX AND
FLOAT. DON`T SWIM AGAINST THE CURRENT. IF ABLE...SWIM IN A
DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE...FACE THE
SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP.

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW MEANS THAT
HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES MAY PRODUCE MINOR FLOODING OF LOW-LYING
AREAS ALONG THE BEACH SUCH AS BEACH PARKING LOTS. COASTAL
OFFICIALS SHOULD TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO
SAFEGUARD THEIR BEACHES.
