725 PM PDT TUE JUL 25 2017

...HURRICANE HILLARY TO SEND LARGE WAVES TO THE SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA COAST FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...

.HURRICANE HILLARY OVER THE TROPICAL EASTERN PACIFIC IS FORECAST
TO CONTINUE ON A WEST NORTHWEST TRACK. SWELL ENERGY FROM THIS
HURRICANE IS FORECAST TO ARRIVE INTO THE LOCAL WATERS ON FRIDAY
AND CONTINUE OVER THE WEEKEND THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. HIGH SURF
IS LIKELY ALONG THE COAST, ESPECIALLY ALONG THE SOUTH FACING
BEACHES. THE SURF HEIGHT WILL DEPEND ON THE STRENGTH AND TRACK OF
HILLARY, WHICH IS RATHER UNCERTAIN.

TUESDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN DIEGO HAS ISSUED A BEACH
HAZARDS STATEMENT...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING
THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING.

* WAVES AND SURF...A SOUTH SWELL OF AROUND 5 FEET IS CURRENTLY
  FORECAST. THIS WOULD PRODUCE BREAKING WAVES ALONG SOUTH FACING
  BEACHES OF 5 TO 7 FEET WITH SETS TO 10 FEET.

* TIMING...SURF FORECAST TO BUILD FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY, PEAKING
  SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY, THEN GRADUALLY LOWERING ON TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS...LARGE BREAKING WAVES POSSIBLY OVERTOPPING JETTIES,
  STRONG RIP CURRENTS, MINOR COASTAL FLOODING, AND POSSIBLE SNEAKER
  WAVES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS SUCH AS STRONG
RIP CURRENTS...ELEVATED SURF HEIGHTS...MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW...OR
LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE AT LOCAL BEACHES.  OBEY POSTED WARNING
SIGNS AND FLAGS AND TALK TO A LIFEGUARD BEFORE SWIMMING.  USE
CAUTION WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER AND ALWAYS SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD.
