THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS LATE TONIGHT ACROSS THE
COASTAL WATERS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN... THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

ON THURSDAY...THERE IS A THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS FOR MOST AREAS
THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING. THE BEST CHANCES WILL BE OVER THE
MOUNTAINS...DESERTS AND INTERIOR SECTIONS...BUT THERE WILL EVEN BE
THE POSSIBILITY OF THUNDERSTORMS OVER COASTAL AND COASTAL VALLEY
AREAS. IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS...THE STORMS COULD BE INTENSE
ENOUGH TO GENERATE FLASH FLOODING.

THE THREAT OF AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE OVER
THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

CUYAMA VALLEY FOR THURSDAY...

.A SIGNIFICANT SURGE OF MONSOON MOISTURE COMBINED WITH AN
UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE AND INSTABILITY WILL BRING A THREAT
OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE REGION ON THURSDAY.
INITIALLY...THE THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL BEGIN ACROSS LOS
ANGELES COUNTY EARLY THURSDAY MORNING...SPREADING INTO VENTURA
AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES THROUGH THE DAY. DUE TO THE DEEP
MOISTURE...ANY STORMS THAT DEVELOP WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR
HEAVY RAINFALL WITH FLASH FLOODING.

THURSDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES/OXNARD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA...
  INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...CUYAMA VALLEY...SANTA BARBARA
  COUNTY MOUNTAINS AND VENTURA COUNTY MOUNTAINS.

* FROM LATE THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING.

* STRONGER OR SLOWER MOVING THUNDERSTORM WILL POTENTIALLY BRING
  RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES OR GREATER PER HOUR. THIS COULD
  LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING...DEBRIS FLOWS...AND ROCKSLIDES ACROSS
  THE WARNING AREA.

* NORMALLY DRY WASHES AND ARROYOS COULD RISE QUICKLY LEADING TO
  FLASH FLOODING DOWNSTREAM. ROADS COULD BE CLOSED DUE TO WATER
  FLOWING OVER THEM AS WELL AS MUD AND ROCKS WASHING ONTO THEM.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
ANYONE TRAVELLING INTO THE WATCH AREA ON THURSDAY SHOULD CHECK
THE LATEST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATEMENTS AND WARNINGS AS
WELL AS THE LATEST ROAD CONDITIONS.
