URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

234 AM PST Fri Jan 19 2018

...SNOW SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS FOR LATE THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY...

.A low pressure system will move through Southern California for
this afternoon into Saturday morning bringing periods of strong
gusty west winds for this afternoon through early Saturday.
Scattered mostly light showers will spread southward across the
area during the afternoon and early evening...then end from the
northwest late tonight into Saturday morning. Snow levels above
7000 feet will lower to around 5500 to 6000 feet during the late
afternoon...to around 4500 feet during the evening...and around
3500 feet by Saturday morning with a few inches of snowfall...
mostly above 4500 feet.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON
TO 6 AM PST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Areas of southwest to west winds for the mountain ridge
  tops onto the desert slopes of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50
  mph. Scattered showers developing during the late afternoon and
  continuing through the evening...then decreasing from the
  northwest for late tonight through early Saturday. Plan on
  slippery road conditions, including during the evening commute.
  Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of of
  one to two inches are expected above 4500 feet with isolated
  amounts to 4 inches above 6000 feet.

* WHERE...Snow levels above 7000 feet will lower to around 5500 to
  6000 feet during the late afternoon...to around 4500 feet during
  the evening...and around 3500 feet by Saturday morning. Roads
  may become slick and snow covered.

* WHEN...4 PM today to 6 AM Saturday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
  times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
