URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SIGNIFICANT EARLY SEASON SIERRA SNOW TODAY INTO SATURDAY...

.A PACIFIC COLD FRONT IS MOVING EASTWARD ACROSS OUR REGION TODAY
INTO SATURDAY. THIS STORM WILL HAVE ENOUGH MOISTURE TO BRING
SEVERAL INCHES OR MORE OF SNOW TO THE WESTERN SIERRA SLOPES ABOVE
6000 FT WITH LIGHTER AMOUNTS LIKELY FROM PLUMAS COUNTY NORTHWARD.
THE INTERSTATE 80 AND HIGHWAY 50 CORRIDORS ARE LIKELY TO SEE
SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS FROM THE SNOWFALL AND ACCOMPANYING GUSTY
WINDS. THE LASSEN NATIONAL PARK REGION MAY HAVE SOME MODERATE
IMPACTS DUE TO A FEW INCHES OF SNOW. THE BULK OF SNOW IS EXPECTED
LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING. MOTORISTS SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: UP TO 3 INCHES. HIGHER AMOUNTS ON LASSEN
  PEAK.

* ELEVATION: ABOVE 6000 FEET.

* TIMING: THE BULK OF SNOW IS EXPECTED BETWEEN 5 PM TODAY TO 11
  AM SATURDAY... BUT LIGHTER SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL OCCUR
  BEFORE AND AFTER THIS TIME FRAME.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: LASSEN NATIONAL PARK.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES IN LASSEN PARK AND AT OTHER
  HIGHER ELEVATION LOCATIONS.
