URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...SIGNIFICANT EARLY SEASON SIERRA SNOW TODAY INTO SATURDAY...

.A PACIFIC COLD FRONT WILL TRACK EASTWARD ACROSS NORTHERN
CALIFORNIA TODAY INTO SATURDAY. THIS STORM WILL HAVE ENOUGH
MOISTURE TO BRING SEVERAL INCHES OR MORE OF SNOW TO THE WESTERN
SIERRA SLOPES ABOVE 6000 FT WITH LIGHTER AMOUNTS LIKELY FROM PLUMAS
COUNTY NORTHWARD. THE INTERSTATE 80 AND HIGHWAY 50 CORRIDORS ARE
LIKELY TO SEE SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS FROM THE SNOWFALL AND
ACCOMPANYING GUSTY WINDS. THE LASSEN NATIONAL PARK REGION MAY
HAVE SOME MODERATE IMPACTS DUE TO A FEW INCHES OF SNOW. THE BULK
OF SNOW IS EXPECTED LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.
MOTORISTS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY ABOVE 6000 FEET FOR HEAVY SNOWFALL WHICH IS IN
EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 2 PM PDT SATURDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: UP TO 3 TO 6 INCHES.

* ELEVATION: ABOVE 6000 FEET.

* TIMING:

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: LASSEN NATIONAL PARK.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 20 MPH.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES IN LASSEN PARK AND AT OTHER HIGHER
  ELEVATION LOCATIONS.
