THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA AND
MONTEREY BAY AREA.

.DAY ONE...SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT

PERIGEAN SPRING TIDES...ALSO KNOWN AS KING TIDES...WILL OCCUR OVER
THE NEXT THREE DAYS. THE HIGHER THAN AVERAGE HIGH TIDES WILL
CAUSE MINOR COASTAL FLOODING WHILE THE THE LOWER THAN AVERAGE LOW
TIDES MAY CAUSE BOTTOMING OUT IN HARBORS AND STRONG CURRENTS IN
HARBOR ENTRANCES. SEE PRODUCT SFOCFWMTR...COASTAL HAZARD

...KING TIDES WILL IMPACT COASTLINE AND WATERFRONTS SUNDAY
THROUGH TUESDAY...

.KING TIDE WILL BEGIN TO OCCUR ON SUNDAY LASTING THROUGH TUESDAY.
THESE HIGH SEASONAL TIDES OCCUR WHEN THE EARTH...MOON AND SUN ARE
IN ALIGNMENT AND IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO ONE ANOTHER WHICH RESULTS
IN MAXIMUM GRAVITATION FORCE ON TIDAL CYCLES. EXPECT HIGHER HIGH
TIDES AND LOWER LOW TIDES AS A RESULT OF THIS PHENOMENON EACH
WITH THEIR OWN SET OF UNIQUE IMPACTS. FOR HIGHER HIGH TIDES...
LOW LYING AREAS TYPICALLY FLOODED DURING HIGH TIDES WILL BE
FURTHER SUBMERGED AND COASTAL AREAS TYPICALLY NOT IMPACTED MAY
BECOME INUNDATED BY SEAWATER. FOR LOWER LOW TIDES... BOAT KEELS
MAY TOUCH HARBOR BOTTOM... STRONG RIP CURRENTS MAY OCCUR ON
COASTAL BEACHES... AND STRONG CURRENTS AND BREAKING WAVES IN
HARBOR ENTRANCES.

* TIMING...GENERALLY SPEAKING...EXTREME HIGH TIDES ARE EXPECTED
  TO OCCUR DURING THE MID TO LATE MORNING HOURS OF DECEMBER
  21ST...22ND AND 23RD. EXTREME LOW TIDE WILL OCCUR DURING THE
  LATE AFTERNOON TO LATE EVENING HOURS. THE EXACT TIMING OF
  TIDES IS LOCATION DEPENDENT SO PLEASE VISIT
  TIDESANDCURRENTS.NOAA.GOV/PORTS/...FOR MORE SPECIFIC TIDAL
  INFORMATION.

* LOCATIONS...LOW LYING AREAS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST AND BAY
  FRONT INCLUDING MARSHES AND SLOUGHS. THESE LOCATIONS MAY
  INCLUDE PARKING LOTS...COASTAL TRAILS...SIDEWALKS...
  UNDERPASSES AND ROADWAYS.

* IMPACTS...SEA WATER ON ROADWAYS...PARKING LOTS...TRAILS AND
  SIDEWALKS. PEOPLE VISITING BEACHES MAY LOSE ENTRY AND EXIT TO
  COVES AND NARROW BEACHES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE IN LOW LYING PARKING LOTS NEAR THE
COAST OR BAY FRONT. DO NOT TRAVEL THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS. IF
VISITING THE COAST AVOID NARROW BEACHES AND COVES.
