NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN DIEGO CA
151 PM PDT WED OCT 18 2017

...ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS THROUGH THURSDAY...

A LONG PERIOD SOUTH-SOUTHWEST SWELL FROM 200 DEGREES WILL
GENERATE ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS THROUGH THURSDAY.
SURF OF 3 TO 6 FEET WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY. LOCAL SETS TO
8 FEET WILL OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON IN ORANGE COUNTY.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WAVES AND SURF...3 TO 6 FT. LOCAL SETS TO 7 OR 8 FT ALONG
  SOUTHWEST FACING BEACHES FROM SOLANA BEACH NORTH THROUGH ORANGE
  COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON.

* TIMING...CONTINUING THROUGH THURSDAY. SURF WILL BE A LITTLE
  LOWER ON THURSDAY BUT 6 FOOT SETS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE.

* IMPACTS...THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF OCEAN DROWNING. RIP
  CURRENTS CAN PULL SWIMMERS AND SURFERS OUT TO SEA. LARGE
  BREAKING WAVES CAN WASH PEOPLE OFF JETTIES AND ROCKS, AND
  CAPSIZE SMALL BOATS NEAR SHORE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT, RELAX AND
FLOAT. DON`T SWIM AGAINST THE CURRENT. IF ABLE, SWIM IN A
DIRECTION FOLLOWING THE SHORELINE. IF UNABLE TO ESCAPE, FACE THE
SHORE AND CALL OR WAVE FOR HELP.
