...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON
TO 6 PM MST FRIDAY...

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE THE CITIES OF...COLUMBINE...HAHNS PEAK...
  TOPONAS...BUFORD...TRAPPERS LAKE.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN AFTER 3 PM TODAY AND WILL DIMINISH IN
  INTENSITY BY 6 PM FRIDAY. LIGHT SNOW MAY CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY
  NIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...5 TO 8 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.

* IMPACTS...EXPECT ROADS TO BECOME ICY AND SNOWPACKED...ESPECIALLY
  OVER RABBIT EARS PASS. STRONG WINDS WILL GENERATE AREAS OF
  BLOWING  SNOW SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCING VISIBILITY AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW AND/OR
BLOWING SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EASTERN UTAH AND WESTERN
COLORADO.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL COLORADO
MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON...THEN INCREASE TONIGHT. SOUTHWEST
WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS AS HIGH AS 35 MPH WILL PRODUCE
AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITY. ACCUMULATIONS OF 1
TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. ADJACENT VALLEYS
CAN EXPECT SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS BUT ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD BE
LIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

SNOW WILL CONTINUE FOR PROLONGED PERIODS FROM FRIDAY THROUGH
THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK WITH THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS
FAVORED. ACCUMULATIONS OF 2 FEET OR MORE ARE POSSIBLE DURING THIS
PROLONGED PERIOD OF WINTRY WEATHER.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT EXPECTED TODAY OR TONIGHT...HOWEVER
SPOTTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT SNOWFALL AMOUNTS TO THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND JUNCTION.
