This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central...east
central...south central and southeast Colorado.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are developing over the
mountains and spread into the adjacent valleys and plains this
afternoon and evening. The main risk with any thunderstorm will
be lightning, locally heavy downpours, and high elevation snow
showers.

Scattered strong to possibly severe storms, capable of producing
hail to the size of quarters and wind gusts near 60 mph, are
possible this afternoon into the early evening for areas east of
Interstate 25. Locally heavy rainfall possible, with a low risk
of localized flash flooding. This includes the higher terrain
and the urban corridor, with a low chance for impacts to the
Decker and Spring burn scars.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

Unsettled weather continues into Thursday. More showers and
thunderstorms are expected for the region, especially across the
southeast mountains. Snow is expected along the mountains, with rain
showers and weak thunderstorms elsewhere. Greatest hazards with any
more organized thunderstorms will be gusty winds and lightning.

Isolated to scattered showers possible each day through the
weekend, though will be mostly restricted to the mountains.
Showers increase across the mountains and valleys early next week,
with critical fire weather conditions possible for the plains.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Weather conditions that meet reporting criteria for spotters will
be likely over portions of the region.

Hydrologic Outlook
National Weather Service Pueblo CO
351 PM MDT Tue May 14 2024

...SPECIAL HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK...

This outlook is primarily for western Las Animas and Huerfano
Counties at elevations below 11,000 feet.

This outlook is valid from May 14 to May 17, 2024.

The potential for increased runoff and inundation of low-lying
areas, due to accelerated snowmelt potential, is higher than
normal in western Las Animas and Huerfano Counties.

...OUTLOOK FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS...

Recent storms producing snowfall along the east slope of the Sangre
de Cristo Mountains has led to above normal mountain snowpack
conditions for the middle of May in western Las Animas Huerfano
Counties.

A storm system is expected to impact the area beginning Wednesday
afternoon, May 15, and last through the early morning hours on
Friday, May 17. This system has the potential to produce rainfall
for areas below 11,000 feet with total precipitation amounts ranging
from 0.25 to 0.5 inches. The potential for rainfall on top of the
remaining snowpack may lead to accelerated snowmelt and runoff.

While flooding of area creeks and waterways is not anticipated at
this time, minor inundation of some roadways and low-lying areas
from accelerated snowmelt runoff could be possible through Friday.
