CONNECTICUT...NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE AREA FROM THE SOUTHWEST
TONIGHT AND THEN TRACK OVER OR NEAR THE REGION ON FRIDAY. A THREAT
FOR FLASH FLOODING EXISTS FROM TRAINING THUNDERSTORMS LATE
TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY AFTERNOON...WITH A LIMITED THREAT FOR SEVERE
WEATHER. THIS THREAT IS TIED TO THE LOCATION OF AN ASSOCIATED
WARM FRONT...WHICH HAS LOW PREDICTABILITY AT THIS POINT. PLEASE
MONITOR SUBSEQUENT FORECASTS FOR UPDATES ON THE FLASH FLOODING AND
SEVERE THREAT.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT THURSDAY...

THE CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
HAS ISSUED AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

FAIRFIELD AND NEW HAVEN.

IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT THURSDAY.

AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY MEANS THAT GROUND LEVEL OZONE WITHIN THE
REGION MAY APPROACH OR EXCEED UNHEALTHY STANDARDS.

THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND SOUTHWEST SURFACE WINDS
ARE CONDUCIVE FOR HIGH LEVELS OF OZONE TO FORM ACROSS PARTS OF
CONNECTICUT. RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO AVOID STRENUOUS OUTDOOR
ACTIVITIES, ESPECIALLY SENSITIVE GROUPS SUCH AS THE ELDERLY AND
PERSONS WITH PRE-EXISTING RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS SUCH AS ASTHMA OR
HEART DISEASE.
