...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR EAST FACING SHORES...

.OVERVIEW...LARGE SWELLS PRODUCED BY HURRICANE IGNACIO WILL
CONTINUE TO AFFECT EAST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND AND EAST
MAUI. THE REST OF THE ISLAND CHAIN WAS LARGELY SHADOWED FROM THIS
SWELL DURING THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS...BUT SURF WILL INCREASE
RAPIDLY ON THESE ISLANDS OVERNIGHT AND PEAK ON TUESDAY. EVEN AS
LARGE SWELLS FROM HURRICANE IGNACIO DECREASE ON WEDNESDAY...
REINFORCING EAST SWELL FROM DISTANT HURRICANE JIMENA WILL BUILD.
RESULTING SURF ALONG EAST FACING SHORES WILL HOLD NEAR WARNING
LEVELS THROUGH AT LEAST THE WEEKEND.

THE HIGH SURF WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST WEDNESDAY.

* SURF...ALONG EAST FACING SHORES...12 TO 18 FEET INTO TUESDAY.

* TIMING...PEAKING TONIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY. THE LARGE SURF
  WILL BE REINFORCED ON WEDNESDAY BY SWELL FROM DISTANT HURRICANE
  JIMENA. ELEVATED SURF WILL PERSIST THROUGH AT LEAST THE WEEKEND.

* IMPACTS...HIGH...EXPECT OCEAN WATER OCCASIONALLY SWEEPING ACROSS
  PORTIONS OF BEACHES...VERY STRONG BREAKING WAVES AND STRONG
  LONGSHORE AND RIP CURRENTS. BREAKING WAVES MAY OCCASIONALLY
  IMPACT HARBORS MAKING NAVIGATING THE HARBOR CHANNEL DANGEROUS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THESE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS MEAN THAT ONLY HIGHLY EXPERIENCED
PERSONS SHOULD ENTER THE WATER. INEXPERIENCED PERSONS SHOULD
REMAIN OFF BEACHES AND ADJACENT BEACHFRONT AREAS. LARGE BREAKING
SURF...SIGNIFICANT SHOREBREAK...AND DANGEROUS CURRENTS MAKE
ENTERING THE WATER VERY HAZARDOUS. ANYONE ENTERING THE WATER
COULD FACE SIGNIFICANT INJURY OR DEATH.
