411 AM CDT FRI AUG 29 2014 /511 AM EDT FRI AUG 29 2014/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

   THUNDERSTORMS...SOME OF WHICH MAY PRODUCE:
-ISOLATED WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH.
    -TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS.
    -OCCASIONAL CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS PORTIONS
OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWESTERN INDIANA THIS AFTERNOON.

  DISCUSSION:

A WARM FRONT WILL LIFT OVER THE AREA TODAY...WITH A WARM AND
HUMID AIR MASS EXPECTED TO SET UP OVER THE AREA IN ITS WAKE.
THIS WILL ULTIMATELY SET THE STAGE FOR SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM
DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER
IS UNLIKELY WITH THESE STORMS THIS AFTERNOON...A FEW STRONG
STORMS COULD PRODUCE WIND GUSTS UP TO AROUND 50 MPH.
ADDITIONALLY...DUE TO THE WARM AND MOIST AIR MASS...THE STORMS
WILL ALSO BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORRENTIAL DOWN POURS FOR A
   SHORT PERIOD.

THERE IS A MODERATE RISK FOR RIP CURRENTS ALONG THE ILLINOIS
SHORES TODAY.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

THERE WILL BE PERIODIC CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY
AND SATURDAY EVENING...MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT...AND AGAIN
WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. ANY STRONGER THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL AND LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT.
