THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  DUPAGE COUNTY IN NORTHEAST ILLINOIS...
  SOUTHERN COOK COUNTY IN NORTHEAST ILLINOIS...

* UNTIL 630 PM CDT

* AT 224 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL MOVING ACROSS THE
  WARNED AREA. THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRODUCING A QUICK ONE TO TWO
  INCHES OF RAIN IN SOME AREAS. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO SOME AREAS
  THAT RECEIVED JUST OVER FIVE INCHES OF RAIN THAT RESULTED IN
  FLOODING YESTERDAY MORNING. ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TODAY WILL
  QUICKLY BECOME RUNOFF RESULTING IN ADDITIONAL FLOODING AND RENEWED
  RISES IN AREAS WHERE FLOODING IS ALREADY OCCURRING.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING TO OCCUR.
  SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE...ADDISON...
  ALSIP...BERWYN...BLUE ISLAND...BROOKFIELD...BURNHAM...BURR RIDGE...
  CALUMET CITY...CAROL STREAM...CHATHAM...CICERO...DOLTON...DOWNERS
  GROVE...ELMHURST AND FOREST PARK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.

AT 1250 PM CDT...THE LEADING EDGE OF A LINE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WAS FROM MARENGO TO ELBURN TO FAIRBURY IN LIVINGSTON
COUNTY. THESE STORMS ARE MOVING TO THE EAST AROUND 30 MPH.

THE LINE SHOULD BE NEAR A WAUKEGAN TO CHICAGO TO RENSSELAER LINE
BETWEEN 130 PM AND 200 PM CDT. THE STRONGEST STORMS ARE CAPABLE
OF PRODUCING HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND GUSTS TO 40 MPH. HEAVY RAINFALL
FALLING IN A SHORT TIME WILL RESULT IN PONDING OF WATER ON ROADS
AND WILL ALSO REDUCE VISIBILITY.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

   SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...SOME COULD PRODUCE:
    TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING.
    FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.
    WIND GUSTS OVER 40 MPH.

   AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

   SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WITH SOME SPORADIC GUSTY WINDS AND VERY
   HEAVY RAINFALL WILL OCCUR ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS EARLY
   THIS AFTERNOON AND BE POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND
   NORTHWEST INDIANA THROUGH THE EVENING.

   DISCUSSION:

   AN AREAS OF STORMS WILL MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL
   ILLINOIS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. WITH VERY HUMID AIR AHEAD OF
   THIS...AT LEAST SCATTERED STORMS SHOULD CONTINUE INTO PARTS OF
   NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND POSSIBLY NORTHWEST INDIANA LATER THIS
   AFTERNOON. THE MAIN THREAT FROM ANY STORMS THAT DEVELOP WILL BE
   TORRENTIAL RAINFALL WHICH COULD LEAD TO LOCALIZED FLASH
   FLOODING.

FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ALONG PORTIONS OF THE DUPAGE AND MAZON
RIVERS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

THERE IS A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
FRIDAY. HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY
THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP.

HEAT INDICES COULD EXCEED 100 DEGREES SUNDAY AND MONDAY
AFTERNOONS.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT ANTICIPATED THROUGH TONIGHT...HOWEVER
RAINFALL MEASUREMENTS ARE APPRECIATED.
