* LAKE SHORE FLOODING...WAVES WILL BUILD TO 8 TO 11 FT TODAY
  RESULTING IN MINOR FLOODING IN THE TYPICALLY FLOOD PRONE
  LOCATIONS.

* TIMING...INTO TONIGHT.

* IMPACTS...PORTIONS OF THE CHICAGO LAKE FRONT BIKE PATH WILL
  LIKELY BECOME INUNDATED BY LARGE BATTERING WAVES AND
  IMPASSABLE...AS WELL AS OTHER HIGH WAVE PRONE LOCATIONS.

* HIGH WAVE ACTION AND DANGEROUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS EXPECTED
  THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKESHORE FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS WILL
GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE LAKESHORE.

LIFE THREATENING WAVES AND CURRENTS ARE EXPECTED AT THE BEACHES.
PEOPLE VISITING THE BEACHES SHOULD STAY OUT OF THE WATER.

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN
SANDBARS. STRUCTURAL CURRENTS FORM ALONG PIERS WHERE LONGSHORE
CURRENTS AND WAVE ACTION FLOW INTO THE STRUCTURE. RIP CURRENTS
AND STRUCTURAL CURRENTS CAN SWEEP YOU INTO DEEPER WATER.

EXPOSED BEACHES ARE MORE LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THE MOST
SIGNIFICANT WAVE AND CURRENT IMPACTS.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

  ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF:
   HEAVY RAINFALL.
   BRIEF WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

  SOUTHEAST OF A GARY TO PONTIAC LINE...WITH THE GUSTY WIND
  POSSIBILITY THIS EVENING...AND THE HEAVY RAIN THREAT THROUGH
  THE ENTIRE NIGHT.

  DISCUSSION:

  A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION TONIGHT AND
  BRING RAIN...HEAVY AT TIMES TO NORTHWEST INDIANA AND PORTIONS
  OF EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS. THERE COULD BE A GUSTY THUNDERSTORM
  OR TWO...BUT THE PRIMARY THREAT WILL BE HEAVY RAINFALL AND THE
  POTENTIAL FOR LOCALIZED FLOODING.

LARGE AND BATTERING WAVES WILL RESULT IN SOME MINOR LAKE SHORE
FLOODING AND LEAD TO HAZARDOUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

HIGH WAVES WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS SWIMMING CONDITIONS THROUGH
SUNDAY NIGHT.

THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS THURSDAY NIGHT AND
FRIDAY.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NECESSARY THROUGH TONIGHT...HOWEVER
SPOTTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO RELAY MEASURED HEAVY RAINFALL REPORTS
THROUGH TONIGHT.
