THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL
ILLINOIS...NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS.

.DAY ONE...TONIGHT

HEAT INDEX VALUES TODAY WILL RANGE FROM 105 TO 110 DEGREES... WITH
THE HIGHEST VALUES FROM ABOUT SPRINGFIELD WESTWARD.

ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...
ALTHOUGH BETTER CHANCES OF STORMS WILL OCCUR OVERNIGHT. SEVERE
STORMS ARE CURRENTLY NOT ANTICIPATED...ALTHOUGH SOME OF THE STORMS
MAY CONTAIN STRONGER WIND GUSTS AND HEAVY RAIN. THIS IS MOST
LIKELY NORTHWEST OF THE ILLINOIS RIVER.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

ANY LINGERING THUNDERSTORMS WILL END BY MIDDAY WEDNESDAY...BUT
SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT ANTICIPATED.

THE NEXT SIGNIFICANT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL HOLD OFF UNTIL
MONDAY...WHEN A COLD FRONT PUSHES TOWARD THE AREA.

FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ALONG MUCH OF THE ILLINOIS RIVER THROUGH
THE PERIOD...ALTHOUGH IT HAS FINALLY SUBSIDED FROM AROUND HENRY
NORTHWARD.

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an alternate
route. Turn around, don`t drown.

  The Illinois River near Peoria.
* Until late Friday night.
* At 1045 AM Tuesday the stage was 19.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Friday evening.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Some flooding begins to bottomland not
  protected by levees.

  AND SOUTHEAST ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON...LINGERING THROUGH
  ABOUT 7 PM.

* HEAT INDEX...AS DEW POINTS RISE INTO THE MID TO UPPER 70S...
  THIS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 105 TO 110
  DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON...WITH THE HIGHEST VALUES FROM ABOUT
  SPRINGFIELD WEST.

* IMPACTS...HEAT RELATED ILLNESS CAN DEVELOP QUICKLY IN SUCH
  CONDITIONS...ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE DOING STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES
  OUTDOORS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY...CALL 9 1 1.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED
ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND
NEIGHBORS.
