...BAND OF MODERATE SNOW MOVING NORTHEAST ACROSS THE AREA...

A BAND OF MODERATE SNOW WILL MOVE NORTHEAST AN OVERSPREAD AREAS
FROM TIPTON IOWA...TO THE QUAD CITIES...AND TO KEWANEE ILLINOIS
THROUGH 6 AM CST. THE COMBINATION OF WET FALLING SNOW AND STRONG
WEST WINDS GUSTING UP TO 35 MPH WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES DOWN UNDER
A MILE AT TIMES. THESE AREAS MAY GET A HALF INCH...UP TO AN INCH
OF SNOW ACCUMULATION BY 7 AM CST. PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES STILL
ABOVE FREEZING WILL MELT SOME OF THE INITIAL SNOWFALL...BUT SOME
SLUSH IS STILL EXPECTED TO ACCUMULATE ON THE ROADS AND MAKE FOR
LOCALIZED SLICK SPOTS THROUGH 7 AM CST.

AREAS FROM WASHINGTON IOWA...TO BURLINGTON AND MONMOUTH ILLINOIS
MAYE GET AN ADDITIONAL HALF INCH OF SNOWFALL BY 630 AM CST AND
ALREADY SLUSHY SNOW COVER ON THE ROADS WILL MAKE FOR SLICK SPOTS
IN AREAS THAT ARE UNTREATED OR UNPLOWED YET.

CENTRAL IOWA...NORTHEAST IOWA...SOUTHEAST IOWA AND NORTHEAST
MISSOURI.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF EASTERN IOWA
AND NORTHWEST ILLINOIS TODAY AND INTO THE EVENING. ROUNDS OF SNOW
WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS. GENERAL SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED...WITH THE HEAVIEST
AMOUNTS CURRENTLY EXPECTED OVER FAR EAST CENTRAL IOWA INTO NORTHWEST
ILLINOIS. SNOW AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AN INCH OR LESS SOUTH
OF HIGHWAY 34. STRONG WINDS GUSTING UP TO 40 MPH WILL RESULT IN
AREAS OF DRIFTING SNOW AND POOR VISIBILITY. PLEASE SEE THE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE FOR MORE COMPLETE
AND UP TO DATE INFORMATION.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

A CLIPPER SYSTEM WILL LIKELY BRING MORE ACCUMULATING SNOW TO THE
AREA LATE TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF AN
INCH OR TWO POSSIBLE...BEFORE THE SNOW TAPERS OFF EARLY WEDNESDAY
EVENING.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT SNOWFALL AMOUNTS AND REDUCED
VISIBILITY IN SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW THROUGH THIS EVENING.
