...STRONG WEST WINDS THIS AFTERNOON...

A FRONT MOVING THROUGH THE REGION WILL CHANGE THE STRONG SOUTH
WINDS TO STRONG WEST WINDS THE REST OF THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS
SUSTAINED BETWEEN 20 TO 30 MPH WILL GUST TO 40 TO 45 MPH THROUGH 6
PM FROM THE WEST. AS THE WINDS SWITCH...TEMPERATURES WILL RAPIDLY
RISE TO THE UPPER 50S TO NEAR 60.  THIS WILL TEMPORARY CREATE AN
ENHANCED THREAT FOR GRASS FIRES THROUGH SUNSET.

DRIVERS OF HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES WILL NEED TO PREPARE FOR
CHALLENGING DRIVING CONDITIONS...ESPECIALLY ON NORTH TO SOUTH ROADS

MISSOURI.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

LOCALIZED AREAS OF VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER ARE POSSIBLE IN EASTERN
IOWA TODAY. IF AREAS CAN DRY OUT FROM THIS MORNINGS RAIN THEN IT
IS POSSIBLE THAT VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER WILL DEVELOP. IF IN
DOUBT...ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION AND LIMIT BURNING TODAY AND
TONIGHT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

AN ELEVATED RISK OF RAPID FIRE GROWTH IS POSSIBLE MONDAY AFTERNOON
OVER PORTIONS OF EASTERN IOWA...AS RELATIVE HUMIDITY DROPS TO 25 TO
30 PERCENT AND A SOUTHWEST WIND GUSTS TO 25 MPH.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY. THE
THREAT FOR SEVERE STORMS IS LOW AT THIS TIME.
