.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8PM SUNDAY FOR
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF WEST
KENTUCKY. A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT FOR
SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND THE PENNYRILE REGION OF WEST KENTUCKY.

PLEASE REFER TO THE LATEST WEATHER MESSAGE ON THESE WARNINGS AND
ADVISORIES FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH KENTUCKY FOR
MORE DETAILS.

ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE TO DEVELOP MAINLY DURING
THE AFTERNOON HOURS OVER WEST KENTUCKY AND SOUTHEAST MISSOURI.
ALTHOUGH THESE STORMS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO REACH SEVERE LIMITS...
HEAVY RAINFALL...CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LOCALIZED FLOODING...AND
LIGHTNING WILL BE THE PRIMARY HAZARDS WITH ANY STRONGER
THUNDERSTORMS.

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8PM SUNDAY FOR
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF
WEST KENTUCKY. A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT
FOR SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND THE PENNYRILE REGION OF WEST KENTUCKY.

MULTIPLE PERIODS OF THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST FROM MONDAY THROUGH
FRIDAY. HEAVY RAINFALL AND LIGHTNING WILL BE THE PRIMARY CONCERNS...ALTHOUGH
A FEW STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS CANNOT BE RULED OUT...ESPECIALLY OVER
THE LAST HALF OF THE WEEK.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT SUNDAY...

* THE COMBINATION OF HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 90S WILL
  COMBINE WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY TO PRODUCE HEAT INDICES
  AROUND 105 DEGREES EACH DAY.

* A HEAT INDEX OF 105 DEGREES OR HIGHER IS CONSIDERED THE LEVEL
  AT WHICH THE BODY BECOMES MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT EXHAUSTION
  AND HEAT STROKE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE.
DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY
OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
